About

Hello, My name is Andy.

I am in my mid-twenties, and a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to IT..I can code, troubleshoot, fix, bodge, hack from the techy point of view, and I’m a bit of a dab-hand at the graphical end, Photoshop, Web Developing, InDesign (and its free equivalent, Scribus), and to a (very very) lesser extent, Flash.

I am pretty proficient in Borland Delphi (Versions 1-7), Visual Basic, Visual C++, GNU C, ASP, PHP, Perl, BASH, SQL (mainly Postgres, but can get myself around MySQL), and teaching myself Python. I’m in my element when it comes to Linux and BSD servers (including OSX), but if needed, I can use my sysadmin skills from years ago and work with Windows Server, granted my experience was with NT4, but I can still find my way around 2003 server.

In September 1999, my first program was to be internationally published on the coverdisk of PC Format. It was a program developed to provide Vital Statistics on the user’s PC. I had people from as far as South Africa contacting me wanting to know if there was ever updates to the program.February 2003 saw my second program to be internationally published on the coverdisk of .NET – a program to allow people with dynamic IP addresses to host websites easily. I initially offered this as Shareware, however, a quick google search with show that it was pirated, and alas, nobody bought a license. Shame.I have done lots of other odds and ends since then, however, I cant really publish them. Some for legal reasons (hush-hush), and quite a few are silly little things that don’t really need to be mentioned.I also worked on a project called NetSaint, which provided scheduled vulnerability scanning for people to identify weaknesses in a server or network, however, I did not have the capital to follow this further.

The code sits on a dusty DVD in my desk drawer. There is more, which I will add soon, but it’s all down to getting the time to do it..
