DaFT provides structured data output that can be seamlessly integrated with Telegraf and Prometheus. This guide explains how to configure both tools to collect and process metrics from DaFT.
1. Configuring Prometheus to Scrape DaFT
Prometheus can collect metrics from DaFT when it exports data in Prometheus/OpenMetrics format. To set this up:
Step 1: Define a Prometheus Scrape Job
Edit your prometheus.yml
configuration file and add a new scrape job:
scrape_configs:
- job_name: "DaFT"
metrics_path: "/your-endpoint/prometheus"
static_configs:
- targets: ["your-DaFT-host"]
Step 2: Reload Prometheus
After updating the configuration, reload Prometheus to apply the changes:
systemctl reload prometheus
Step 3: Verify Data Collection
Once Prometheus is running, verify that it is successfully collecting metrics by navigating to:
http://your-prometheus-host:9090/targets
You should see DaFT
listed as an active target.
2. Configuring Telegraf to Collect Data from DaFT
Telegraf can fetch JSON-formatted data from DaFT and forward it to a time-series database such as InfluxDB.
Step 1: Install and Configure Telegraf
Ensure Telegraf is installed:
sudo apt install telegraf
Edit your Telegraf configuration file (/etc/telegraf/telegraf.conf
) and add an HTTP input plugin to pull data from DaFT:

Step 2: Configure Output to InfluxDB (Optional)
If you are using InfluxDB as a storage backend, configure the output plugin:

Step 3: Restart Telegraf
Apply the new configuration by restarting Telegraf:
sudo systemctl restart telegraf
Step 4: Verify Data Collection
Check Telegraf logs for errors:
sudo journalctl -u telegraf --no-pager | tail -50
You can also query InfluxDB or visualize the collected data using my favourite tool, Grafana.
